Atheists: what makes christians, muslims, and many other people of religion so bad?

They do try to control other people's life. Extremists are the worse: they constantly threaten with Hell or promise heaven, tell what is right and what is wrong more from a book that was written thousands of years ago than their own logics. People who believe in their religion are fine but they should tolerate differences and stay at their place. We shouldn't need a religion to have morals. Most very religious people are so damn hypocrite: In Muslim countries some parents kill their own daughters for losing her virginity , Isn't murder a greater sin than pre marital sex ? How cruel can a person get ? They would deny abortion to a rape victim even if she's only 11 years old but would want to burn her because she ''attracted the rapist'' , they hang homosexual couples but they give only 4 months in jail to a father who brutally raped and killed his own 4 year old daughter (In Saudi Arabia), Again in Saudi a woman was sentence for DRIVING her sick father to the hospital needing and emergency: she saved her father's life but she made the mistake to drive....Don't get me started on some extremist Christians who would equally send to hell every ''fornicator'' (having sex before marriage) the pope who is against condoms when condoms are the miracle solution for a lot of our problems: Overpopulation, teen pregnancy, AIDS, and other STDs....They violently deny the evolution theory even thought it has been proven scientifically but believe a load of nonsense. What irritates me the most is that they claim to be ''Good'' when they are often the most evil of all. Religious freaks are creepy. Don't get me wrong I respect religion, I just don't understand how some people use it.

Well with their beliefs they try to alter the state laws (that effects everyone) to be more Christian or Islamic, forcing their laws onto us. I call that fascism.

Then there's the fact that their beliefs are utterly false. There's no debate here. It's false. There's no great 40 day flood, the world isn't 6,000 years old, snakes can't talk, Muhammad didn't see anything in some cave, didn't ride to heaven on a pegasus. You get people who believe such utterly retarded things and you'll get them to believe other things - like women should be stoned for breaking "holy laws", that certain people don't deserve the same rights as everyone else... or how about forcing people to marry who they don't want to, or protecting paedophile priests from justice or these ****** up mormon type cults where child brides are raped.

Then shall we talk about religious wars, wars that are still going on today?

but besides that now a days they dont hurt people like this anymore they are hurting them in other ways like trying to change the education system, denying scientific facts and replacing them with there idiotic beliefs

on top of this there are the anti gay homophobes, the anti abortion people(some are murderers of doctors) and not to mention the catholic church which takes all this gold and money that could be used to feed the poor

Its when the religion is imposed by state,and the society expects a religious norm from all its members,when the beliefs start encroaching on a persons freedom of thought and expression It becomes bad,it makes people do that.

The problem is that some of them ARE hurting others. Fundamentalist Muslims kill for their religion, fundamentalist Christians have killed people in botched exorcisms, let kids die rather than get medical help for them, bullied gay kids until they commit suicide, closed down abortion clinics so women who want abortions turn to back alley butchers, and so on.

Because most Christians & Muslims can't just leave it alone with living their beliefs. They have to knock on others doors & yell at them from street corners. They have to legislate their beliefs, thereby forcing others to live with their beliefs as well.

If they want us to "just let them live with their beliefs", then they should return the favor .

Most are asking questions that the natural 3rd grader in a just right Sunday college would know, no longer thundering hell-fire and damnation on all people. As long as they keep those beliefs to themselves then I have no problem with them.

It's when they try to impose those beliefs on others that I disagree.

They try to control how other people live their lives, successfully.

The moment they step back from politics and education, I will leave them alone
