Buy the correct dipstick from your local Citroen dealer. Guessing your oil level by using other methods, or a dipstick that's "about right" is asking for trouble. Too much or too little oil in your engine can cause much more expensive damage than the price of a new dipstick! :-)

i have made them before, but you need to know when the crankcase is 1 quart low and full. this is done by taking capacity, minus 1 quart after an oil change. dip it, mark it with a file. add the remaining quart, mark it again. this gives your level. do not start it when doing this or your levels will be lower.

ive used this technique to get levels for big diesels. i use one side of the stick for running, and the other for off. as long as you have the low mark, you can get the low running, and the high running as well as high engine off.

cathy you know me, you still have to get the old one out. that means pulling the dipstick tube out.

Source(s): long story short, you gotta get a new stick.

Easy enough part to source either from a Citroen dealer or a scrapyard. Make sure you get the correct one as the wrong one will have the wrong markings on it which could destroy the engine if you over or under fill it.

New dipstick needed - you cannot make one as you do not have the level marks to refer to to get the lengths correct.

Buy a new or used dipstick!

  • Look online, you can buy them. I just typed it into the search engine and multiple results came up, most off of eBay. They cost around £10.

Source(s): It took around 30 seconds to type it into a search engine and find them.
