Oh yes,the person involved may well have an attack of the vapours and need the application of smelling salts to recover from the shock and outrage.Failing that a nice sum of compensation would help the damaged feelings.

if that person finds it to be racist, yes, if they do not, no. if the person you are talking to who is not that person finds it racist, then yes, if they do not then, no. That is the line you must take in public discourse.

If you mean it as a racial slur, yes, if you don't, then it isn't racist, but it may be perceived as racist.

Paki is considered more racist than the others because it is largely applied in a situation where that group is a culturally/historically oppressed minority, the same goes from Taffy, Jock, Paddy, although many do not mind any of those terms.

    Limey is a little dated.

They are all derogatory and cause offense, the same way calling a German a Nazi would be offensive.

The last one 'Paki' for Pakistani is a term often used by the far right (BNP, NF, C18, etc etc) and thus is often thought of as a racist term.

depends on the person, if a racist calls a pakistani a 'paki', or a scot a 'jock', then he intends to offend, and if someone who isn't racist uses these words then the intention's a different one.. words can't be racist, only people can

The PAKI word is considered by fair minded people to NOT be acceptable all the same......

LIMEY is for ALL us BRITISH..NOT just English.....We have words for English people best left unsaid......Unsure why of course.....

Source(s): Welsh....British...Taffy but just do NOT call me English ...:)

it is only the stereotypes that go with the names that people don't like, some are valid too. For example in Scotland english are known as feminine (gay) which is true as they are all into fasion etc

No it is not. But some may still take offense.

The last one definitely is duh a Pakistani would OBVIOUSLY take offence! It's like calling a black person the N-word which only black peeps like me can say no asians, whites just blacks!! :)
