Are Landlords Obligated To Tell You About Your Sex Offender Neighbor?

We found out "after" we moved in, that we lived about 30 feet away from a sex offender. It is in a small community. I don't know why I did not think it ask the landlord or try and find a website concerning this; but I guess I was just in a hurry to move out of the maddening place that I lived in. Anyway, could someone please give me a website that would list all of the sex offenders in our area. I live in Vermont. Thank you.

P.S. Yes, I know what this person did. I "now" know his situation. Yes, it did have to do with a young minor. I won't add too many details just in case; but let's just say that there are young kids all around here and this person is not allowed to leave their home, except within a short walking distance, without being chaperoned. It's sick and sad.

Update:

FamilyWatchdog.com is a family owned business. With over 30 years experience in computer software development, hardware diagnosis and repair, and user training, FamilyWatchdog.com can handle any computing problem or need.

This site does not address what I am asking.......................unless you can somehow send me a link.

Thank you.

Update 2:

I am asking for a link to the sex offender registry..............Thank you...........

Update 3:

Additional Information: Yes, the landlord knows. Yes, the landlord rents all the homes in our location.

No, the landlord was not legally required to tell you. He may not have even known about it unless he is also the sex offender's landlord. You can look to see if you have a local, city ordinance that requires him to tell you, but I've never heard of one. But you might want to also contact your local police precinct because the sex offender may have been required by his probation to notify you of his status. The police can check and see.

Not unless you have specific local ordinance that requires this. Local rental codes often require different things.

Every local sheriff has a website listing sex offenders. Commercial websites, like the ones plugged by people here, just repost the same information.

Or just make sure you're close to a school, same result.

It is determined by what category of intercourse offender he is. Are you relatively sure that he was once required to inform any individual of his crook historical past? In some cases, the one obligation a crook has is to register with the local police department. If this character has committed no crime through moving in to this condo, the owner has no purpose to evict him. ("Having sexual activity with a minor" could mean that an 18-year-historic had consensual sex with a 17-yr-ancient. It would not always imply that any prepubescent kids are in risk.)

No, the landlord is not required to notify you.

You are responsible for checking public records if this is of concern to you.

No...there are websites for your to research this yourself. Furthermore, even if you asked your landlord, the landlord is not obligated to tell you.
