Christians, what are your thoughts on Mercy Ministries?

I am not asking this question to judge the organization. My sister is in desperate need of guidance and a friend told me about this organization. I visited their website and it is unclear on how they lead people to Jesus or their doctrinal beliefs. What is clear is that they have more charismatic roots which I am some what against. Can anyone give me feedback on this program? Is it effective?

    Hi AM.

I am a former resident and graduate of Mercy Ministries.

To answer your questions… in short, yes, Mercy is very much charismatic and hence the nature of their program is centred around charismatic doctrines such as word of faith, demonology and submission to apostolic leadership.

If your sister is in need of serious help, my advice to you and her would be to stay well away from this organisation. They are not who they present themselves to be. Their staff are grossly unqualified, their program contains no trace of evidence-based therapy, and the counselling and group therapy is merely bible studies and theophosic prayer.

If your sister is in need, I strongly urge you to have a good look around at what other programs and options she might have.

Lastly, I list below some websites that may be of interest to you, and I invite you to contact me or Mercy Survivors should you wish to ask anything else.

    Cheers

I hear it's international and is rapidly expanding in the U.S., not sure of its success rate.
