New a/c systems now not use freon. The older programs do. Automotive systems use R12 and dwelling and business methods use R22. The more recent techniques all use a variant of R410A, relying on the company.

A big no. Do to federal law(s), automotive freon for vehicles can not be mixed, this also applies to other types of usage. Visit www.contractingbusiness.com/residenti

Check for a label on both the car and the a/c unit. The label should note which type of refrigerant is in each device. If the refrigerant is identical in each, the refrigerant can be used interchangeably.
