How Do I tell my husband I have an Eating Disorder?

Hi,

I've had an eating disorder for 4 years, and been married for 3. How can I tell him I have a problem and its time to get help. I never wanted to face my monsters in the past but lately I have told myself this is enough I need help, I can't control this on my own. I feel so depressed, and I dont have a life, I always want to workout and think about food, food, food all day. I cant do this anymore, I want to be happy! Eat normally, feel normal.

Update:

I dont know what kind of eating disorder I have. I'm at a normal weight. Some days I dont eat, other days I do then run to the RR to puke, and I workout everyday. If i dont go to the gym I feel really stressed.

Honesty is the best policy. Just tell him the truth. Hopefully he would be supportive but even if he's not, you deserve to get better for your own good. Living with an ED s no way to live. There are so many people like you out there; you just need to take the first step to get help. You will need to work out your underlying emotional issues, weather it's anxiety, low self esteem, perfectionism etc. My daughter recovered from severe ED after 3 years. It wasn't easy but is definitely possible. Please seek professional help and live a happy life that you deserve. Wish you the best and God bless.

It sounds like you have bulimia nervosa. First learn the harmful affects bulimia has on your body. Then think of a good place and time. You can also practice how you're going to bring it up before you tell him.but please do tell him so that he can help you because throwing up your food all the time won't allow your body the proper nutrition it needs.
