I want to put a Seymour Duncan "Dimebucker" in my Thunderhorse...?
Sooooo, I want to put a different bridge pick up in my Gibson Explorer "Thunderhorse". The guitar is a beast already, but I want more crunch... I've never played the Dimebucker on a Gibson before... think it would be too much? If so, what would you suggest? I play heavy metal, thrash and hard rock.

Honestly the Dimebucker sucks.
If you want a similar pickup that doesn't kill your tone you can try the Lawrence L-500.
Also the Dimarzio Crunch Lab will give you a good crunch tone as will either the Dimarzio Super Distortion or the Duncan Distortion.
I had a dimebucker in one of my guitars for a month and hated the tone. Switched it out a set of EMG JH actives in my main axe.
Do you have EMG's in your Explorer Thunderhorse...is that the Brendan Smalls model?... (I could have swore those had EMG's stock). You might want to try Either the Duncan Blackouts or EMG JH sets. The JH set is nice as it kinda combines the output of the actives with the punch and warmth of passives.
But definitely avoid the dimebucker. Even Dimebag's main guitars still had the Lawrence L-500 in them when he died.

My co-guitarist has the Bare Knuckle Painkillers in his V. He told me that he would have rather spent the money on a set of EMG's and that the only nice thing is that they're not dependent on a battery. For the cost of the bareknuckles ($350 minimum for the set), there are other pickups out there that are just as nice for a third of the price.
*edit
LOL I kinda mis-spoke...drawback to being up 37 hours lol. My main axe (a ESP Eclipse) has the EMG's, however my other guitars all have DiMarzios in them. Passives will give a nice warm tone, Actives will have a hotter output. Also DiMarzios or Duncans will respond better to different touch dynamics. And while the Bare Knuckle pickups are awesome, not saying that they aren't, you can get pickups that are just as good for far less.
Actually, check out the DiMarzio Crunch Lab or D-Activator pickups. They might give you what you're looking for.

Not the best demos, but gives you an idea.
Source(s): I've met Dime and discussed gear with him (met him literally a week before he died) and yeah, he was still mainly using the Lawrence pickup over his signature model LOL...says a lot about the dimebucker. - cnewshadowLv 78 years ago
Bare Knuckle Pickups
Any of the following models: Warpig, Aftermath, Nailbomb, Painkiller.
There are a few more, but I like the sound of those 4 the best.
They're handwound, and expensive. I don't actually have a guitar with them in it, but I've watched slews of comparison videos and the Bare Knuckles have tons of clarity no matter how much gain you pile on.
