Is it okay to take a nap with my contact lenses on?

I was just curious if it is safe, for my eyes, to take a nap with contact lenses on. I forgot that I ran out of contact lens solution, and I need to take a nap. My husband is out running errands and picking up some solution for me, but I wasn't sure if it was safe or not to sleep even only for a half an hour. Thank you to all who answer.

Is it safe? First, answer this question: Do you wear "daily wear lenses", or "extended wear" lenses? This is extremely important as extended wear lenses allow more oxygen to pass through the lens and more tear fluid to reach the eye than daily wear, which have a lower water content and will dry out faster. Secondly: What condition are YOUR EYES IN? Do your eyes produce enough tears naturally to keep the extended wear lenses reasonably wet? If yes, than you can wear lenses for days at a time. Many people (including myself) produce less tears than normal, and some people hardly any at all (dry eye syndrome). We will have some trouble with ANY soft contact lens (forget hard contacts altogether). Also, NEVER skimp on proper eye hygiene: wash your lenses on a regular basis even if they can be worn for a week at a time. If something gets into your eye (dust, a tiny speck of dirt, etc.) REMOVE the lens immediately and wash it, and rinse out your eye with fresh saline. These are the general guidelines for extended wear of soft contacts. Now you must decide how long to wear them (assuming you can wear them for more than a day).

Nooooo don't. If you sleep for a while it could like attach to your eyes and burn and hurt a lot. So I don't recommend it

Just wait for your husband to get back. That way you'll be absolutely sure.
