I am a green card holder..Is there a permit of some kind to re-enter the U.S?

I am a Moroccan citizen awaiting the American citizenship. My passport was stolen and I have to go to Morocco for a month with my American citizen 11 years old daughter (she has an American passport). I got a travel permit (laissez-passer) from my consulate to enter Morocco without passport but I am worried that I won't get my passport on time to re-enter the U.S. Is there a permit of some kind I could get so I can come back in case it takes longer than they say? My tickets are not refundable or transferable and I cannot change the dates.

Update:

Again! I have my green card in hand. I don't have the passport nor any travel document to come back to the U.S.

I do have a travel document to enter my country hopping I would get my passport replaced once in Morocco..that's it!

BUT!

Can I leave Morocco with just the green card? Is there a document I can get from here that would allow me to take the plane back to the U.S? I have straight flight Casablanca-NY

    Nothing is required other than your green card and the Moroccan travel document. The first answer

    Just like someone mentioned before, you will not be allowed to enter the US without a passport. Actually, the only way to enter with a green card is by land. My little sister (8 years old) is a US citizen and her passport expired right before reentering the US. She had her expired passport as well as birth certificate and she was not let in the plane because they said that to enter the US from another country, you have to have a valid Passport.

    Your best bet is to try to renew it in Morocco. You can go online so you know the length of the process. I know that for a US passport they have the expedited process and you can get it the same day but I don't know if that is the case for your passport.

    A laissez-passer is only good for you to get into Morocco, not to come back to the USA.

    The green is only good for you to live in the USA and to re-enter, but you must have a valid passport as well.

    Get a passport and pay the fast fee renewal in Morocco.

    There is no document that would allow you to enter the USA because you have the green card already. Get passport in Morocco.

    Your question needs to be ansered by the INS - Immigration and Naturalization Service.

    You need to do some research. I think their name has changed. to U-------something.
