They vote both. It depends on the individual.

I am sure many will claim to know but honestly we don't have that information. Our voting in the US is not public. You are not required to divulge who you vote for and neither are scientists and engineers. So if I said most definitely vote democratic I would be talking out of my ...

No one can legally and accurately track such information since the data is private and most choose to keep it that way. In other words, if I ask 100 scientists who they voted for and 99 told me to mind my own business and one said I proudly vote republican, it would be BS for me to use that to say 99% of scientists vote democratic.

At any rate, it shouldn't matter. A doctor, a lawyer or an engineer is exactly as capable as you or I when it comes to picking a candidate. You opinion on what issues matter and who will do a better job addressing them is just as valid as Stephen Hawking, if he could vote here. That is the basic idea of democracy after all. We all get a vote whether we won a Nobel prize or mow peoples lawns.

Well if they wanted to capitalize on the technologies they produce I would say they voted Republican because people usually vote their wallets i.e. all the Democrats that vote to keep their welfare checks coming. Don't see why the scientists and engineers wouldn't do the same but vote Republican to keep more of their money and not have to pay out more in taxes to support the lazy.

    Democrat

Ever noticed that the top engineering schools are routinely ridiculed as Liberal?

In most engineering fields, there is a divide between the "good" schools and the third rate state schools, which tend to draw more conservatives

Ever notice that one party routinely derides and denies science? It's hard to support a party willing to pretend evolution is fake, when your entire profession is based upon it.

Business majors tend conservative, even the fake "engineers" of computer science often do, but most real engineers and the majority of scientists end up Democrats.

Engineers are a mixed bag. Every programmer, Facebook dev, google dev, EA, 2k, Apple employee I've met has been pretty far left.

Probably the deepest thinkers - the ones who realize that human history is more characterized by cycles of progress and decline, and that there is more to life than material things - vote Republican.

Scientists kiss @ss to government only to get grant money but know the Democrats policies are destructive to the nation.

Engineers are beholden to no one and are logical thinkers and so vote Republican.

Well none of that would be possible without gasoline and food. So, at the most base level, I guess that would be Republicans.

Also, most technological innovation takes place at large corporations and since Democrats hate those, I guess you have to chalk it up to Republicans again.
