Too low of a paycheck?
My son busted his butt at work to earn more money. His paycheck was 1,100.00 and he brought home 640.00 in his check. This CANNOT be right! That is almost 50%. Does anyone know what percentage is normally withheld? He is single with no dependents.
He has no insurance taken out and no 401K

Actually it's 41.4%, not 50%. If he's making that much per week and lives somewhere with high state and local taxes, and put 0 on his W-4, not out of line. You don't give anywhere near enough info to guess if it's right.

Ask to look at his pay stub.
He might have health insurance being taken out.
He might even be contributing to a 401K.
He might even have a wage garnishment he is not telling you about.
No one can answer you here. No one.

Post the numbers from his pay stub (no identifying data) and we can have a look. Include how often he is paid, i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, etc.
Or just run the numbers here: http://www.paycheckcity.com/
