Why in the U.S. Russians considered as the standard of vice?

Why in the U.S. Russians considered as the standard of vice? Why changing social norms in the U.S, Americans always attributed the opposition of this norms to Russians?

In the 30's in U.S. were the norm racism and Christianity - all Russians were regarded as internationalists and atheists.

Now in U.S. is popular tolerance and liberalism - all Russians were regarded as nazis and religious fanatics.

Why is that?

That right about when communism started and the US was afraid of communism so propaganda was spread damaging russias name, then with stalins evil acts we grew to hate russia, We had a cold war which made russia are enemy and rival as the top global power, fear and propaganda where spread across the states, finally now we look at russia and we see a place of crime, drugs, (a police state), gangs, mafia, poverty. Infact I have heard many speak of russia being better off as a communism so of which are russians themselves. finally two kids associated with russia terroized bosten one thing to blame is religous fanaticism many believe it was a gihad I believe it was crime oriented from russia. I'm not trying to offend anyone here but this is my opinion I donnot hate russia I do believe that it is not in very good shape right now but the same can be said about many countries out there
