Atheist, if you don't believe in Noahs flood, why do believe an asteroid could destroy Earth?

Since you guys blindy denounce Noah, why do believe some rock could destroy the earth like yall say they did to the serpants and dinosaurs. I don't get it, a rock can't kill us but water can't?

I've never "blindly" denounced Noah. My position is that there was a cataclysmic flood of some type but it never covered the face of the earth. As time passed and the story was passed down from generation to generation, the story changed and things were likely added and removed. That is how the story of the ark came about.

Some scientist have hypothesized that what is now known as the Black Sea was an inhabited valley until about 7500 years ago when the land bridge holding back the Mediterranean Sea gave way and flooded the valley. If so, this could be the flood that led to the legend of Noah. Visit the link below if you like.

As for asteroids destroying the Earth, because we know they've collided with the Earth in the past, it is possible for that to happen again. You should be grateful for the very large asteroid that hit the Earth 67 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs. None of us would likely be here if that hadn't happened.

    1. No asteroid destroyed the world, ever. It can't. 65 million years ago it temporarily caused climate all around the world to change, causing many species to extinct. We know this is possible, because the gloabal climate is changing as we speak.

    2. There are at least one billion larger asteroids in our Solar System. The chances one of them collides with Earth every few hundred million years are quite high. So if it happens, we know were it came from, because we're observing them right now.

    3. Where does your water come from? We don't see this amount of water anywhere. There is not enough water on Earth to flood all the lands.

    4. There are no geological indicators that prove a global flood in history.

    5. There is no way all species which live or have lived would ever fit on one arc, no matter the size. Also, two of every species is not enough to guarantee survival.

Umm, if the world were covered with water then it would be the complete destruction of just about every ecosystem. No doubt about that. The problem is that there is no evidence that a global flood ever happened. Also, the science and logistics of the entire story are ludicrous.

As for asteroids, there are plenty of craters here on Earth to show they hit us from time to time. We have seen some smaller ones hit us and witnessed the damage they can do. Simple physics shows us the potential energy in one of these things. We can see many objects in space. So the idea that an asteroid is possible and that a large enough one could wipe out life on the planet is not even close to being far fetched.

'Cause I know physics and have the math skills to calculate both scenarios.

The math tells us some rock can kill us all.

The math tells us a global flood did not take place less than 6,000 years ago.

If you have an issue with that, talk to Issac Newton about his math.

There is no evidence of a world wide flood.

There is plenty of evidence of at least one mass extinction created by a impact with an object from space.

Read up on the KT extinction.

As asteroid hasn't destroyed earth, ever.

An impact with an asteroid has caused the a massive crater and its impact did change the climate so that flora and fauna had challenges surviving.

There is evidence of asteroids colliding with the earth, numerous times.

There is no evidence of a global flood

Because one is a scientific possibility and one is not.

Besides, 'blindly' is kind of a dishonest assertion. Geologists have found no evidence to support the myth of a world-wide flood.

In addition, the saltwater fish aren't all dead from the massive influx of freshwater. Hmm, what else? The current population of the planet is too big for that nonsense. Do I have more? Sure! How did the plant-life survive? Shall we continue or do you want to retract the ridiculous question?

    Um... it is called Geology.

The argument from ignorance is getting old, and it is getting harder and harder not to think that Christians really are less intelligent (both because you think the argument from ignorance is valid and because you don't bother to pick up a science book before you open your mouth).

There is not really a solid connection between religion and science. It is a bit like comparing apples and carrots, something like that.

I'm sorry....I don't mean to be rude but I have to ask - Do you stay up nights practicing to be stupid or does it just come naturally?
