Are you talking about the five year old that shot and killed the two year old? I don't think he legally owned the gun but the parents bought it and then gave it to him. The question is, why would a gun manufacturer make a child sized gun if they thought it would be kept in the hands of those who can legally buy guns, which are over the age of 18? The fact of the matter is they don't care. If they did care they'd encouragement people to treat guns as what they are- weapons, not toys, not fashion accessories. I see this type of incident fairly often and until those adults in charge are arrested for a crime (negligent homicide comes to mind) we can expect more kids to get their 'responsible gun owners' firearms and either maim or kill another. But in this situation I'm pretty sure negligent homicide is appropriate because their negligence caused a death. But these parents won't even have their guns taken away, despite the fact they've proven themselves to be completely irresponsible. Yes, I feel sorry for them. But guess what? If you give a five year old a gun..gasp!..he'll still be a five year old. Most five year old's can't even figure out an XBox controller, let alone a gun. I feel bad for the kid, because he'll feel remorse for the rest of his life. But I do NOT feel sorry for the parents. They did something stupid and it caused tragic results.

Well this is one of the consequences of getting a gun A 5yr historical can comfortably purpose and pull the set off of a loaded gun and kill his sister before he knew what he had performed. It usually is a simply taking part in a recreation to him I dont think nobody can have a a hundred% secure gun defense in each dwelling there might be simply sooner or later the safeguard locks or cupboards were left open by accident and that very day the five year old may have taken the gun to play together with his sister after gazing so much police officers and robbers on tv Some men and women who reside with the guns die with the aid of the gun

Are we speaking of a baseball bat; a knife; or what? Those kill more than guns each year. Maybe the parents wanted him to have his own bat in little league? It could be his Dad did not put a lock on the knife drawer? Honorable Americans as in other Countries that support gun ownership, do not kill others! Okay. Maybe gun shootings are one in 1000 with non-felons! But those that have these save many lives. Why do you think Chicago wants strict laws? The MOB! This is the same in New York! I know about the MOB as I am a union member! This gun thing is just an attack on our rights! After all the school shootings, which can be proven to be Liberal caused by their stupidity in education, bats and knives kill more each year.
If we do not look at facts we loose our rights! When we allow there is no real right or wrong, and we totally know there is, we have these things. We all suffer but we should have honor in admitting why!

The Cricket is a neat little 22 for children. I started shooting at age 6, with my father watching me like a hawk. And the guns were locked up, unloaded, when not in use. Responsible gun ownership and teaching kids young is a good combination. Being sloppy is tragic. If it seems bizarre to you, then you simply come from a different background. Keep in mind that more little kids are killed in bike accidents than gun accidents. It's all a matter of context.

For the same reason I was allowed to own a lethal firearm (omg!) at 10 years old. Here's a clue, a parent made the decision and guess what? It's none of your damned business.

Unfortunately, that isn't all that uncommon. Where I grew up - Oklahoma - kids as young as four might be given a gun. And yes, accidents such as the one you're thinking of were also not uncommon.

Those particular firearms are MARKETED to and for very young children.
See if you can dig up the name of that particular model, and find the website for it. It's all pictures of kids holding that rifle.
The idea is to get kids "hooked on" guns EARLY.

The same reason he can own a baseball bat; a butcher knife; a Tonka truck. Any of these can be used to kill, but it's no one else's business how a parent raises their kids. I owned a gun since a child, but have never bought one as an adult. If I want one though, I'll get it. And get one for my kids as well. Because it is and should be my choice.
