I'm in the market for a new, fuel-efficient vehicle. What are your recommendations?

This is a preliminary search. I've been driving a 1998 Toyota Corolla now for about 5 years and I'm dumping a little too much money into it.

My family has always been a "toyota family." I would like a 4-door sedan, probably 4-cylinder that is fuel-efficient and will last a while.

I have $5000 to put down. I'd like to buy new, but I'm hoping to have an affordable payment ($200 and under). I live in Pennsylvania.

Hopefully this is doable. Recommendations please!

I remembered that when I was born,my Father drove a Toyota too!But now,he drives a Honda Civic Type R.So you could think about the Honda Civic, most Civics are Sedans and are very Reliable,Cheap to Fix and have a Good MPG.But then again if your family is a "Toyota Family" and speaking of a Reliable Toyota,it still think the Corolla is one of the best Reliable and Cheap Toyotas. But whatever it is,some thing Japanese would be nice.

Have you considered the Toyota Camry Hybrid? It will average about 40mpg. Here's some more info on it.

The most fuel efficient vehicle you can buy is a bicycle.
