Part-time business advice.?

I was thinking of starting a pressure-washing business (homes, local business parking lots, etc) to do part time, but don't have any experience in doing so (by part time I mean around 4 days/week). I don't yet own a pressure washer and would also appreciate some advice in that area as well as far as what I should purchase. Also, what is a fair fee to charge clients for such service? Thanks for any help.

It's a good idea. It's easy to learn. The machinery can be constantly upgraded for better contracts. If there are off-road vehicles around your area then it could be a full-time business.

Getting bigger contracts is harder to learn. You can have cost/time blow-outs if the machinery doesn't perform as expected. Commercial grade machinery is expensive to buy outright. And the licensing is arbitrary per area.

But, worst of all is what your insurance is willing to cover. Make sure you have your insurance agent on speed dial before you agree to new jobs. Pointing a water-jet at people's assets is fraught with danger.

You have no experience and no pressure washer. Why pursue this if you're unsure? There are plenty of other business ideas you COULD do which your skills might apply to and you might be surprised that the real money maker is something closer to your real interests. Your hobbies and past-times are often the things that hold the answer.

A labour of love turned lucrative will always outlast what would otherwise be no more than a "job" that you get bored of quickly.
