There is power in a personal encounter with Christ on the cross. Jesus conquered our sin on that cross. "Thank you Jesus for dying for us. Thank you Jesus for saving us."

If two thousand years ago an empty cross stood on a hill called Calvary, nothing would have changed. The fact that a body was nailed to the cross, the incarnate body of the eternal Word of God, made all the difference in the world.

There is no Resurrection without the Crucifixion. Jesus suffered and died—was crucified for us. He paid for our sins and redeemed us by his sacrificial death. There is no Salvation without the Crucifixion

Yes, Jesus is risen and Catholics honour and pray to the risen Christ. He also died on a cross. On that cross he redeemed us, he suffered for us. Catholics feel this is extremely important. Catholics have no problem kneeling before the crucified Christ on the cross (Crucifix). It is there that he saved us.

Supposedly, God decided one day that the only way to save humanity was to impregnate himself as his own son into a virgin Jewish girl belonging to an impoverished and illiterate tribe of nomadic desert-wandering goatherders living in ancient Iron Age Palestine, so that he could some 30 years later have himself brutally and viciously tortured and die dangling on some wood in a barbaric backwoods Roman territory, because basically blood-sacrificing himself as an offering to himself would save us from himself, that is to say, from the rules he himself set up commanding eternal damnation for gaining knowledge against his will (which ironically, no-one could "know" was wrong to do until they did it), which apparently is unforgiveable unless somebody's blood is spilled in unimaginably painful ways.

So basically he's a wacko masochist. Anybody who goes to all that gaudy rigmarole either has a poor imagination when it comes to finding ways to forgive others, or he's just really bored up there in heaven. That, and the way he demands everybody to worship and glorify him in eternity like some kinda narcissistic nut indicates he really loves himself quite a lot. So I guess that's the supreme love they're talking about?

The literal wooden cross itself is not what we should look at, it did not save us. It's what happened AT the cross that matters. What Christ accomplished AT the cross is what each Christian believers should contemplate.

You see, we were born in this world, physically alive, yet dead spiritually, '' without God and without hope.'' We were dead in sins, but God so loved us that he sent His only-begotten Son into the world to save us.

It was at the cross that Jesus shed his blood (life) to reconcile us back to God. It was at the cross that sin was defeated once and for all. Because of the cross that Jesus Christ bore for us, we can now be righteous before God, completely free from sin.

Now our part is to accept the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Admit you are a sinner and realise that Christ has paid the full penalty for your sins. Make haste! time is no more. Recieve Jesus Christ as your Saviour and be assured of an eternity with him in glory.

The Cross is a symbol of the price Jesus willingly paid for us to be set free. And he did it without charge. There are no demands, save accepting his forgiveness when it is offered to you.

The cross showed that even if man showed contempt and hatred for God, God would not stop loving him.

Oh! I thought a cross was a jewish symbol of victory?? o_O

  • It is based solely on the beliefs of some people.

There is no empirical proof that it is.
