Why do people think capitalism is the most natural economic system for humans to live in?

The most natural would be small anarcho-communist communities that reflect those in which that humans and our predecessors have lived and evolved for hundreds of thousands of years. But no, human nature is suddenly considered to be incongruous with this, as we refuse to use a proper understanding of human psychology in economics and politics. And for some reason we consider mass-consumption, excessive pursuit of material wealth and extreme individualism to be the normal circumstances for humans to thrive in. It is no wonder that criminality and mental illnesses are thriving the most in Western rich countries where capitalism is at its worst (England and the USA being at the top, with the US being far worse off than England.) Why is it that we humans are unable to find and construct a system that is in better accordance with human nature and psychology?

Since the inception of the colonies the country has flourished on capitalism. It wasn't until this socialist got elected that the economy has gone from the frying pan into the fire. It isn't over yet. One month of hiring doesn't turn the economy around when you consider that 10,000 boomers each day are retiring from the work force, and the jobs they leave need to be filled.

A new problem exists because of this baby boomer situation. Social security will take a pretty big hit so having illegals here to pay into the system offers temporary relief, but it will offer them the same benefits that real Americans receive. Is that what we want for this country, to fill the needs of the down trodden, the politically threatened, the uneducated, the poor ? Isn't that what we got in Boston, and the myriad of would be terrorists, either foreign born or American born but just the same, terrorists, who are busted almost weekly for their attempts to harm the US ?

People think that whatever their experience is is the most normal and natural. It feels and seems natural, because it's what they've always known; what they were raised into.

Be one of those participating in, better understanding, and advocating for alternatives. For instance, there's the co-op movement.

BTW, just because our predecessors lived some way doesn't automatically make it better -- they often died of blood loss when they were wounded, for instance.

As far as what people actually think and want, there was a poll of people in a wide variety of countries, and what they all said they wanted was "a good job" -- by which they meant security. That is, that they could take care of their families' needs, and not constantly be stressing it.

For most of our evolutionary history man has lived in small tribes of hunter-gatherers.

The small anarcho-communist communities you are talking about would be extended families where cooperation as a group had an evolutionary advantage of increasing the tribes share of the gene pool.

In other words that kind of altruism naturally exists inside a family, not a communist society.

"Say what you want about Americans, but we understand capitalism. You buy a product and you get what you paid for..."- Max Payne

......sorry I just had to put that out there as a joke :3

All I have to say is that the human mind finally gets enough of...well what it has always gone by. The human body craves for more...and in this since....capitalism seems like the fastest and easiest route to choose. And when you think about, it seems more efficient.

Because capitalism allows the least productive individual to consume far beyond his personal ability to produce. The fry cook at McDonald's could never hope to create an iPhone, but capitalism makes it possible for him to earn one easily anyway.

Because capitalism creates incentives to produce beyond what one can consume by allowing the accumulation of wealth. The ability to own wealth eliminates the need to consume everything the individual creates, and eliminates the incentive to stop producing at some arbitrary income limit.

Because capitalism creates incentives to grow unconsumed wealth by putting it to use meeting the needs of others as opposed to hoarding it.

Because capitalism naturally puts resources to use in their most highly valued applications.

Because capitalism marries human nature and the economic realities of supply and demand instead of putting them at odds with one another.

How is the USA far worse off than England? Do you have any facts to back these claims. I seem to remember from history that some of the most brutal societies were socialist.

It is also natural for us to be nude. The whole naturalist argument is invalid. When the world is communist, it will work as a single community based on equal rights and equal development.

Who said it was the most natural? All I have ever said is that it is the best available choice for people who value individuality.
