Could my wife be pregnant even though she is on her period? Or could something else be wrong?

We thought my wife was pregnant because her period was late (not sure how late exactly) and she said her breasts were tender. She said she had a light brown discharge for a couple days but then she got her period. Then she had cramps(more painful than usual)while she was bleeding which never happens with her, along with the tender breasts, which are still tender and worse than before her period started. Her period is almost over. Could she possibly be pregnant? Or could something else be wrong?

Doesn't sound like she is pregnant to me this cramping & bleeding was her womb lining being shed so an embryo would be lost too.

She could possibly have had a very early miscarriage without realising she was pregnant but without having a positive pregnancy test she'll never know for sure. Early miscarriage is very common as many as 1 in 4 early pregnancies ends this way usually due to an imperfect egg that the body quickly rejects within a few days of implantation.

Millions of women have late periods during their lives that could well be miscarriages but they never know for sure. She could have a check up with her family doctor if she is worried.

No, she just had a period so she isn't pregnant. If she is worried she should see her doctor but this sounds like a normal period.
