Does volunteering count if you do it over the summer?
I'm currently in the 105th grade and am looking to do volunteering over the Summer... However I don't know if it will still be able to put it down for when I apply to colleges
Thanks in advance!

Yes, colleges will consider from the summer prior to 9th grade. It's common for Ivy applicants to do 200 to 400 hours of community service, mostly over the summer x 4 years. Colleges like to see long term consistent community service. Whether your school accepts summer hours towards service hours it depends on the school, I would guess many wouldn't, but the required hours needed for most schools is so low they're easy to do during the school year.
Good luck!

It might depend on state but at least in my state (Florida) if the paper work is all done through you guidance counselor then the next year when you come in then you will be able to submit all your hours. Now if you are a Senior trying to get volunteer hours during summer then you must mail your hours to your states capital.

Yes, it will count. Ask the organization if they will give you a community service letter. You can copy it and add it to your college applications. Abby
