How can I kill the Brood II cicadas?

I know they're coming and I don't want them anywhere near me. Is there something I can spray them with from a distance or do I have to kill them manually by squashing them? Seriously if one of those things lands on me I'm gonna freak out. Is there any way to prevent them from coming to the surface?

Update:

No really, I'm not an indoor person. If there's a spider in the house I'll be the first one to pick it up with my bare hands and bring it outside. I have a lot of pets. I'm not even afraid of bees. I don't agree that cicadas are beneficial creatures. Think about your average squirrel or bird. They don't even live long enough to enjoy more than one periodical cicada meal in their lifetime. They don't depend on them for survival. I don't mind dog day cicadas. I'm only afraid of periodical cicadas. So how can I keep them away?

Pretty difficult since the adults usually live fairly high up in trees.

It would be very bad for the environment to spray all the cicaidas you see with a long distance spray. Really, they make a lot of noise but other than that they are very beneficial insects. They are a fantastic food source for birds, lizards, and small mammals, they don't harm anything, and they go away for 17 years. They cannot bite or sting you, they hardly even fly. So why devote so much attention to them? Sounds like you would be better off as an indoor person than spending any time outside. Believe me, a cicaida is more interested in not landing on you than you are.

    There's no stopping them.

Millions of cicadas have been hibernating for 17 years.

And their about to wake up.

Seriously, don't bother trying to kill them.

As fast as you can kill them, more will take their place.

Your best bet is to lock yourself in a closet and pray to TAKIC they don't find you.
