What do think about symphonic black metal bands?

Stormlord didn't release a real album until 1999 so plenty of symphonic black metal albums were released by then.

I really like it. Has a great atmosphere. Like the guy above said Carach Angren are brilliant. Another band I really like are Odium, though they only released 1 album

I don't think the raw grittiness and symphonic majesty match. If it's artfully used, like with the case of Emperor, it can really enrich the song, but mostly it just makes the aggression sound ugly and unnecessary.
