Is Orthodox reformed church Calvinism?
My friend recently got married and switched to her husbands Orthodox Reformed Church (ORC). I tried to google that to see their basic beliefs, but kept getting Calvinism. Is that the same thing?
Bonus if you can explain ORC to me.
Well I was just getting Calvinism when I broke down the words, and searched "reformed". Not sure if orthodox changes things..

Yes, it is a Calvinist Church. This link not only explains it thoroughly, but it also has a long list of sermons you can listen to and see exactly what it is.
Presbyterians are Calvinists, but they don't really emphasize that. Some Baptists are Calvinist and some are not. Those who are don't tend to emphasize Calvinism. The ORC seems to put a big emphasis on Calvinism. Orthodox means holding to correct religious doctrine. Orthodox Jews tend to be very conservative and very strict followers of Judaism. Orthodox Calvinists hold strictly to those doctrines.
Calvinism can be explained through the Acronym of TULIP:
Total Depravity of Man
Unconditional Election
Limited Atonement
Irresistible Grace
Preservation of the Saints
Basically they believe that God chose who he wants to go to Heaven and some people are born with no chance of being saved. No matter what they do, they are never going to feel a need to seek God. Those who were chosen by God will not be able to resist being saved and once saved they'll always be saved.
Some Christians have problems with the idea that God doesn't want everyone to seek salvation.

The name could be a bit ambiguous:
Orthodox could mean Eastern Orthodox
Reformed could mean Calvinist
But if you keep getting Calvinist every time you google it, I guess that tells you which of those two it is.
EDIT:
It is a Calvinist church.

It seems they simply took the word "Orthodox" to make themselves seem like an older sect of Christianity. But they are neither Orthodox nor Catholic.
They are Calvanist Protestants.

Calvinism would be considered correct orthodoxy, but it has nothing to do with ORC or any other "orthodox" church............>
