Which car should I buy, 1986 Camaro Z28 or 1987 Camaro IROC-Z28?

I'm trying to choose between a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z28. Both cars cost $2500. Here is more info on each one (taken from ads).

1986 Camaro Z28: 85k miles on the body, 30k miles on motor. Has new brakes, new tune up, brand new tires, new brake lines, has t-tops and a 5 speed.... Sat for a while but it's been fixed up and was on the street for a while good car with little rust awesome project car can be really nice once fixed up

1987 Camaro IROC-Z28: Car runs, has 72,000 miles. Good car for Restoration. Car has T tops. Car Is Fully Powered, Auto Trans Eng Is 5.0

i had an 86 z28 that had 43,000 original miles on it, i put a 350 in it with a heads/cam swap. i would tell you save the extra $700 and get a 1993 or newer z28. but between the 2 you are looking at i would get the one with the 5 speed. the auto trans in the 80's esecially before 1988 were junk and always break. i use to race ALOT and i went through 4 or 5 700r4 trans, one or two in my 86 z28 and the rest in my 4th gen lt1 z28. i will never buy an auto z28 again, only sticks for now on. the 5 speed in the 86 isnt really strong either but they didnt make much power anyway. 190hp stock if it is a a high output one.

I'm not a chevy man (go ford!), however I had an 87 camaro that had the 305 and 700R4 tranny in it that I swapped a 350 into and a shift kit. That is undoubtedly what was once carried out here as good. It's feasible though that it used to be a late 86 model that got just a few 87 ingredients. My camaro had no designation, no RS, Z28, Iroc, nothing, only a camaro. In case you dropped a slight 350 into an in any other case inventory RS, you might be best as long as you were not impartial losing the 700R4 at 4000 rpm or something crazy like that. I saved the 700R4 and just put in a shift package and it was once nice for what I did to it. I wasn't launching off slicks or whatever like that, but it surely did best for burnouts, fishtails and so forth. The inventory rearend held up first-class as good.
