MaineCare eligibility at 63 years of age and on social security.?

Does the State of Maine count your social security income when determining eligibility for MaineCare? If not, what are the income requirements? Do they take your assets into consideration like home, vehicles, IRA or savings into consideration?

Update:

Thank you.

I am assuming that MaineCare is your state's Medicaid program? Of course they count any type of Social Security as income. They count your assets excluding your car, your home, a burial plot, and some other property depending on the county. They count all persons' incomes in your household to determine eligibility.

Your problem is to be eligible for Medicaid you must be 65 years old unless disabled, blind, a new immigrant, a single parent, pregnant. So on that count you dont qualify unless you are saying your Social Security is based on disability. For a single person you are allowed $2000 in total assets.
