Gastric Vein? Mesenteric Veins? -> Hepatic Portal Vein?

In my biology notes, I have:

Artery -> Arterioles

-> Capillaries

-> Venules -> Vein

-> Hepatic Portal Vein

My question is, if food is absorbed in the small intestines, for example, would the food travel directly to the hepatic portal vein or does it pass through the mesenteric vein then hepatic portal vein.

I am just very confused since I have received a list of major veins from my professor and there were no veins for the stomach, small intestine, or large intestine.

Someone please clarify!

    The hepatic portal vein is usually formed by the confluence of the superior mesenteric and splenic veins and also receives blood from the inferior mesenteric, gastric, and cystic veins.
