Question about a low carb diet?

Do the carbs in fruit work against you? Should I stay away from a lot of fruit?

Yes. Fruit has a lot of sugar. It's natural fruit sugar, fructose, which is better than refined sugar, but it's still sugar, which counts as carbs. That doesn't mean you can never eat fruit, just that you have to treat it with respect, as you do other carb-heavy foods.

I'm against low carb diets like Atkins. It's a crash diet which is very unhealthy first off. What i currently have going that's helped me lose weight healthily and quickly is a diet of Lean meat (grilled chicken, fish, turkey breast, etc) it has to be white meat because the research i've done all says that red meat is actually bad for your heart, vegetables, fruits (limited doses), no dairy and nothing white (bread, rice, starchy foods, etc) oh and no soda! Don't drink your calories. Anything breaded like popcorn chicken or fried chicken you get at burger king is FAST FOOD which is intensely unhealthy. Fruits are fine if you use them as a substitute for unhealthy sweets considering they have healthy vitamins in it like Vitamin C in Oranges which produce healthy skin and hair. They ARE sugary so take it as a snack whenever you crave something sweet but i repeat that it's far far better than refusing yourself your favorite snack which sets you up for disaster or eating awful highly produced sweeteners in candy, which contain HFC High fructose cornsyrup.

Want a good and HEALTHY way to lose weight? Here's the two answers you've been looking for. The diet i listed above.... and EXERCISE! The more you work with your body the more happy and comfortable you'll be. Exercise also prevents depression by getting you outside where your happy drug in your brain is released. Working your body will improve your heart as well. It reduces your chances of many many diseases like heart problems.
