Racism against myself for being British!?

Hi.

I have a kind of weird scenario, I go to a school near London, Britain. There are one or two Americans in our year, one of them is particularly unpleasant towards me.

I have an RP accent, your typical posh-ish British accent, and he kind of holds this against me. Always talking about my drinking tea and eating scones (...guilty pleasure, maybe...) or he'll take the p*ss out of my accent, talk about my being British, to run back to the Queen, how American Eagles are better than British Lions....a little strange. I'm so proud to be British and I'd do anything for my country, I've told him that several of the things he says to me offends me and that I really take it personally. He recently became a British Citizen (immigration is too easy) if that makes any difference. I don't know if this is racism or what I can actually do about it. And please, no one, say 'just ignore him' because I've tried. I get so angry and disappointed when he says stuff like this. He says he hates Britain, and that Ireland and the US are better.

So...anything I can do?

I'm sorry to hear that one of my fellow Americans are behaving in such a way.

Hears a tip. Americans are all very insecure so in times when we start acting in such a way it means we are vulnerable, so next time he approaches you say something that will really bring him down.

Or you could try making friends with him. In times of vulnerability we often try to push away people who we feel threatened by. If you act friendly with him he will no longer consider you a threat and may even warm up to you. Compliment his shoes or something.

    Good Luck.

Hm, it does seem like some Americans have this overly enthusiastic "We are the best you all suck, America is the centre of everything" (not all americans! Only some. America is a cool place)

This is bullying! Report it. Or call him something rude to do with where he comes from just to get back at him a little. Like Mickey Mouse like someone else said, or a dumb yank. Why is even here if he hates it so much? He's just jealous that so many American girls love your accent. XD

I have a couple of friends who joke about my accent (I'm from the south east, but live in the south west). Just make fun of the way he fails to pronounce words (if he does) and the missing of U's in his words. If you really care enough, just mention the poor level of government help in America, and the fact that they have a bunch of idiot statesmen to rule their country. I find that the American Ego is in a minority of Americans, who seem to believe that they are superior, basically fascism. America has it's downsides, just point them out.

He like so needs to get over himself big time brother. He's like jealous because Britain beat like America in World War II.

Just give him an appropriate American nickname, such as Mickey Mouse, that will put him in his place.

Just say, you can leave if you hate this country so much.
