Hašek's athletisism can not be matched. Hasek, Sawchuk, and Brodeur are in a class of thier own when it comes to goaltending.

Mark is obviously out to lunch. Roy has 3 Playoff MVP's, more than anyone else in history. However saying he was better by miles is even more of a blunder. Hasek was great. Some people have a hard time admitting that because of his unorthodox style, or perhaps lack of any real style at all. However his unpredictability was part of why he was hard to beat. The one thing however that was predictable about Hasek, at least before he got into his late late 30's and beyond, was the fact that Hasek would never blink in a big game. He was always there playing top notch under pressure just as Roy thrived under pressure. They were both true 'money goalies' as they say. That's what made them legends. The bigger the game was, the better Roy played, especially in his first 8 seasons. Hasek was also one of the toughest goaltenders ever in the clutch. Hasek's not far behind in my view, but definitely in an overtime game, winner take all, if they were both the same age, I'd take Roy, but I certainly wouldn't be upset with having Hasek either.
I don't know what Geoffery is talkin about either. For one thing, Hasek was truly not given a chance to be a starting goalie in the NHL until later than Roy. Nobody was sure if his unorthodox ways could work in the NHL. I still remember my first glimpse of Hasek's greatness. It was in the Stanley Cup finals with Chicago playing Mario Lemieux's powerhouse Penguins. Belfour was a star for the Hawks recently winning the Vezina for the first place Hawks. However he was repeatedly chased from games in the series by the high powered offense of the Pens. Every time Hasek got in net he outplayed Belfour, he was stopping the puck. He looked funny, but he was holding the fort against one of the best offenses ever assembled. Nonetheless they continued to start Belfour in every game and Mario and his crew dispatched of the Hawks in 4 straight.
Years later after finally getting a net full time, only because of a Grant Fuhr injury, he proved himself in a long stretch of games. Later in his career he took a very low scoring Buffalo team to the Stanley Cup final and ended up losing a close series on a goal that actually was illegal, but the referees blew the call. It's basically considered the most controversial goal in playoff history. Hasek then became the first European goalie to win the cup in 2002 when he finally had a team in front of him who could score.
And let's not forget, Hasek also backstopped the Czech Republic to the second biggest upset in Olympic hockey history by winning Olympic gold over Patrick Roy and his high powered team Canada. When you think about it, maybe that victory is even more impressive than the Miracle On Ice and maybe truly it is the biggest upset in Olympic hockey history.

Patrick Roy, he was excellent in the regular season but a beast in the playoffs having won 3 Conn Smythe's. Hasek was superb but it's the playoffs that really matter
