Excuse me. What long range missiles?
What nuclear weapons?
I mean - Everybody KNOWS Israel has nuclear weapons. Right?
But has one ever been tested? - Nope
Has anyone ever seen one? - Nope - not that we know of
Now Israel is a small country. How small?
see here - http://www.iris.org.il/sizemaps/calif.htm
Now that's small
Is Israel a rich country? - not really
GDP of California - 1,846,757,000,000
GDP of Israel - 203,950,000,000
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_between_U....
No one would believe that the Sate of California has so much left over cash that they could fund a multi-billion dollar weapons program, and keep it a secret.
So why is everybody so sure that Israel can?
Because it makes no sense for Israel to actually spend all that money on weapons they can never, ever use.
The fastest way for Israel to lose international support, including it's most important ally, the USA, would be to lob a nuke at someone.
Doing so would mean the end of Israel
So really having the weapons has no value.
But people THINKING they have such weapons?
A really, really, good misinformation campaign can be kept running on what it costs the State of Israel to buy a new fighter jet.
Now there is value in that. And one heck of a lot cheaper
And the Israelis have always made sure they got the most "bang for the buck".

If China or Russia determined to assault Israel with fallacious range missile, nuclear or traditional, they might be sensible sufficient to be certain they hit Israeli nuclear arsenals first. So there will not be a Sampson choice. Iran is not going to assault Israel except it can be attacked. And Iranian missiles do not need the ability to threaten Israel's existence. The Sampson option is a final inn, when a nation's survival is at stake. It is not going to be used in keeping with Iranian missiles. Even though they decided to make use of nukes, who're they going to drop 'em on? Iran (a nation ten instances as colossal), Syria, Lebanon (Hezbollah). Too many ambitions. Probably the Christian apocalypse will in the end come.

Long range missiles act as a deterrent. They were developed by Israel when the situation was far worse than today. A series of wars with its belligerent Arab neighbors put its security under threat, especially when the erstwhile USSR was supporting Israel's adversaries and had threatened war against it. Today the country that has Israel worrying the most is Iran and the missiles would prove credible in a war with Iran. In the realm of international politics it is difficult to predict the future. With Russia, China and Arab states supporting Iran, Israel should be more than prepared.

It is not true that Israel is without friends. In some matters Saudi Arabia and other US allies have to do business with Israel. Saudi Arabia sides with Israel against Iran because they dont want Iran to be a regional power because it has a nuclear enrichment program and oil. Most of the region are Arabs, but Iran are Persian so they are natural enemies. Israel does not want Iran smuggling weapons to Hezbollah to defend against Israeli forces. I assume the weapons are for threatening Iran, I dont know.

It is not unforeseeable that a neighbouring enemy country could fire from a location other than the geographical location of the country (by boat for example). Further, an ally could fire rather than the neighbouring country. The UK has long range missiles and no need to fire upon long range sites at the moment, however, can it predict who its enemies will be in 30 years time? Probably not, thus like good boy scouts they are prepared.

Israel would not need long reaching nuclear weapons if there wasn't assholes that keep Israel in a state of defense when their scriptures read GOD give us peace; your most precious gift.
