my 11 week old chocolate Labrador puppy?
ive had my puppy for about 3 weeks and shes got a little round cushion bed thing in my living room, when me and my mum are watching tv or whatever my puppy goes and collects things from around the house and puts them in her bed, she will go into the kitchen and come back with each of her bowls and put them in her bed and go and get something else like a tissue or a brush ect, she wont eat the tissue or brush or anything else, the only thing she will chew on is her bowls and squeaky toy.
why is this?
I dont feel like its an inconvenience the only thing is, if she goes to take something, say my laptop wire, and i say no, or take it out of her mouth, she will start barking at me and trying to bite my hands, but if i take anything from her bed like the bowl or something she couldnt care less, she just looks at me and after about 5 mins of me taking it she goes and gets it again! so i was just wondering why shes doing this?
Also whats the best way to train a labrador puppy? shes taken about 3 days to learn to sit on my command and shes still doesnt always listen when i tell her, people say its because shes a chocolate lab and theyre dumber than the blonde and black? but im determined to train her! shes quite good at going to the toilet outside, because my living room is at the back of my house i open the french doors onto the small concrete square that we have sectioned off for her, although she has had some accidents in the house.
Also shes been quite ill, shes had an infection and some diarrhoea but we got some medicine and shes perking up alot more! since she was ill we couldnt get her second injection in the time frame of 3 weeks after her first so we have had to give her a new first injection and shes due for the second on 28th may then a week after i can start taking her out for walks. shes got so much energy that she cant use because i cant even take her out on the grass. i live in an area with alot of foxes and stray cats and they have infections and diseases that could be on the grass so shes confined to the sterilised concrete bit.
so to conclude, what im asking is;
is it normal for a puppy to collect things from around the house and put them in her bed?
why does she start barking when i say no to an object that shes going to put in her bed but not when i take something out of her bed that shes already put in there?
why has she taken so long to learn 1 command, when i read that labradors learn alot of commands in just a day?
is she dumber because shes brown not blonde or black?
whats the best way to train a labrador?
will she become socially distant and not want to meet other people or dogs if she doesnt go out for walks soon?
also shes my first puppy so i havent had any experience in training dogs at all.

All dogs like to have things that is theirs near them
.
Let her keep what she wants food bowls and all
.
Feed here near her bed where she puts them
.
That is where she wants them they belong to her
.
Please do DO not NOT take away her need to have things of her own
.
Especially since she is getting over an illness She NEEDS to have her
.
Teddy Bear
.
That is what they are to her security
.
YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE A PET LIKE THIS

(1) It is normal for a retriever - they will pick up and carry and collect just about anything (my last Labrador would happily fetch me anything from a dime to a folding chair when asked).
(2) She thinks you are playing. How much interaction does she get? You should be the one instigating play and should do so fairly often, otherwise she will go for forbidden objects just to get a rise and some action.
(3) She is a PUPPY. Labradors are a slow-maturing breed, you are a novice trainer, she's barely settled in, and she's been ill. Use patience and keep it short, fun, and positive.
(4) No. She may be "dumber" if she is poorly bred, but there is no causal relationship between color and intelligence in Labrador Retrievers.
(5) That depends on what you want to train her - basic manners? casual obedience? competitive obedience? agility? tracking? field work? I recommend one of these: http://www.akc.org/events/obedience/training_clubs... classes to help both of you find your feet and to discover which method fits both of your personalities and your training goals
(6) That depends on how you spend this time in the meantime. If she has positive experiences with all normal life things by 16 weeks, she will probably be fine, but ideally you should invite over friends and their vaccinated-and-friendly dogs to visit or find a safe puppy class.

My little dog who is now 8 months old still puts things in his bed! He,s sooo cute!! One day I found a sock, a slipper a rawhide chew bone one of my rollers and a bottle top! There were so many things in his bed that there was no room for him! He is also a thief! I caught him with his head in my shoulder bag where he grabbed my five pound note and ran off with it! Had to chase him to get it back! His breed is renowned for being independent with a mind of their own. Anyway, your little girl is only a baby, she will learn if you are consistant with your discipline. When she tries to bite you just say a firm loud NO! and give her a short sharp jab in her neck with 3 fingers and your thumb! This is equivalent to a bite. I learnt that technique from cesar millan the dog whisperer who has a tv programme on sky. This will put her in her place when she is challenging you. I don't think your puppy is dumb at all, she is still young, don't overload her with too much information, be patient and keep the training sessions brief and fun and full of praise. Why not contact a Labrador breeder to find out all you can about the breed. Look up champdogs website you will find lab breeders to contact there.

The best way to train a Labrador is the same way you train ANY breed of dog.
And your puppy is dumb because of her colour. And no, you don't train any puppy or dog with multiple commands in just one day. It's too confusing for them. If she's not learning from you, you're not teaching properly so that she can undertstand. Your timing is off.
She barks at you because she's trying to train you to let her have her own way.
Lots of dogs like to "hoard' things in their bed. I have never had one but I've seen tons of others who do. It's nothing out of the ordinary. Labs are bred to carry things in their mouth.
She will not become distant. Just keep introducing her to people and when the vet says it's ok, get her out for walks and to meet other puppies.
You may want to consider taking her to puppy obedience classes. YOU will learn quite a bit about handling a dog.

Well , you need to show her that you are dominant. she barks and growls at you because in her mind, she is the alpha and she can take whatever she wants. It sounds cruel, but hold her down by the neck. DO NOT CHOKE HER. Just hold her down so she can't get up until she ducks her tail or lifts her leg to show you her belly.ANd all labs are smart. WHen you give a Dog a command, they watch for a motion. And let her out in the grass! She wont listen because she can't focus. Don't be paranoid that she is going to get a nutty disease as long as she has all her shots updated! And the social question is yes, she needs to get out into the world ot otherwise she will be kinda mean. Training takes patience. She isn't going to get everything the first time you show her.

I really recommend you sign up for puppy training classes. This way you can learn how to properly train her. In the training classes they usually have you do 1 command a week. Practice everyday and be consistent. Color of the dog means nothing.
