What the People of the United States thinks about this? And how is your country in this about ?
Here in Brazil (And I also think that in all countries latimo American) Pentecostalism (Mainly the Assembly of God) has grown tremendously, Protestantism Classico (Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Congregationalists) too.
While Catholicism is getting smaller every day.
I would like to Know what repercussion of this in the United States.
In 2000 Catholics were 75% of the population of my country today are only 62%. While 13% were Protestants are now 27% (18% Pentecostals, and 9% Classics). Venezuela already have more than 30%. Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize as well.
Islam has now become stable, in fact, only one Islamic met in my entire life.
Religions Spiritualists, traditional African and Indigenous, only decline, and Kardecism has mild growth.
Already Atheism has grown enough but not even close the Evangelical growth. Many have become No Religion, Atheism but still not as popular, I personally only met two atheists in my entire life. But the "No Religion" are very numerous.
Excuse me if there are errors in the written here, do not know English very well yet.

1 out of every 4 Christians in the world are Catholic. But the Catholic Church has changed over the years, just like the numbers have. Some Catholic Churches are old fashion, and some are more modern and lenient. That's why most people brake off into Protestant churches.
As for the "no religion" people, some people that believe in God choose not to call it a "religion". Have you ever heard the saying "Jesus is my savior. Not my religion." It pretty much means worship God the way the bible says to, not the way man-made religious groups tell you to.
As for the atheist, more people are becoming too smart, and thinking science is the key to everything.

In America majority of Hispanics are Catholics, like all Hispanic cultures because of Spain, and Brazil also adopted the Catholic doctrine, coming from southern Europe which does the same as well. America has a huge Protestant belief, because of northern European. Even though Catholic religion has declined a bit, it is still one of the most followed, with huge numbers in the world.

According to Christian beliefs, GOD will be rid of the shaft. Which could mean he is weeding out the people who are trying to ruin the Catholic faith. But if you really look at the so called statistics (which can be manipulated to lie and show a biased opinion), you will find that many of the other Christian sects are loosing their flock to the Catholics. Surprise!

Classic religion's numbers are dwindling -but still going strong- while non-denominational churches are growing especially among the young.

I honestly don't care in the rise or decline of a religion or personal belief. In the USA you are free to believe what you want, and nobody can argue with it.

Both the fanatical wings of religion are still going strong. I don't have the stats on how they break down by category, though.
