Why do we celebrate birthday ?
Every year, one year is reduced from our life-time. We near to the death.
Why do we cheer up and celebrate birthdays while it reminds that one year has reduced and you are more nearing the death?.. This is the hardcore fact.
Death is inevitable. Celebrating will not put it off from the mind & reality. It rather seems that we are celebrating and welcoming death that is more nearing..
All have nice and sensible views. Thanks to all.
I like all the nice answers. I am chuffed for your mindsets about it. So I have concluded that I am leaving it for VOTING as it will be biased and an injustice if I choose any one answer as THE BEST. .

What's wrong with being a little happy?
It'd be such a waste of time to think about so much death and how "we're all gonna die soon" all the time when you're alive anyway
Are you just going to waste your life away just because you know you're going to die in the end?
Death is inevitable and life is short, sure. That's why we make the most out of life. Why we celebrate, to experience and to make memories, and share happiness with people we care about, as much as possible.
We just want to, so we do

Because when a person is born it is a true miracle. Not everyone can have children. So we celebrate the birth of our children and of ourselves. A child carries on our lineage or carries on the family name. Having a child is a gift so we give gifts and celebrate with the ones we love to rejoice births.
Of course, each birthday brings us closer to death; but that is the cycle of life. Most don't think about the inevitable until much later on in life and then it isn't as scary as what we believed when we were younger.

Dear Buddy,
Nothing (no life) is immortal in the world. This fact is known to every one may from the age of four to five. Normally every one is not worried and thinking about the death. Like the birth, the death is also quite natural and this can happen at any moment of the life. No one thinks and concentrates and thinking about the death.
It is one of the happiest moments / days in a person's life and hence, the BD is celebrated.
Best of Luck
Thanks, Warm Regards & May GOD Bless

Birthdays are a celebration of life, a time to remember everything you have done over the past year, and an opportunity to learn from mistakes made in the past year. Mostly its just a time to celebrate your existence.

Be positive. A birthday is a reminder that you live to cherish one more year of life. You are more experienced, more mature, more understanding, and stronger than you were last year. I thank god for keeping me alive everyday. and on my birthday, I thank god for giving me such a sweet family and such lovely friends.
Now thinking in your point of view, I would celebrate my birthday because I'm closer to death - closer to god. Everyone dies. So, let us try to find something beautiful in death.

This is the truth that death is inevitable. So celebrate it, spread the happiness and get the happiness and live and enjoy every day as its last day of your life.

I don t think it should be considered as a sin, you are just having a bit of fun. That s all a birthday is about. We do not need to make things so complicated.
