The little sweetie is indeed dreaming. Studies show dogs and cats go through the sleep cycles much the same a humans. During the dream cycle you will see eye movement behind the lids.

My Butch was dreaming about being a kitten and making nursing motions with his mouth. One afternoon he must have been dreaming about the fox who lived around in our old neighborhood because he was growling in his sleep.

    Dogs dream.

Yes, the noises and movements are part of whatever is happening in the dream. Maybe they are chasing a rabbit, maybe playing with other dogs, maybe greeting you, maybe being given a treat ... in their dream.

I too, think they are dreaming. Our dog use to make those funny little noises and their bodies and legs would even move a bit.

I love when the dogs seem to be dreaming. Silent barking, feet twitching like they are running and little eye movement. Then there's the snoring. I like when cats are sleeping too but they keep one eye open. Deep sleep for them leads to chewing in their sleep. Cats are pure hunters. Love watching all animals sleep and I'm sure they dream.

Oh yes they dream. Their brain has activity same as ours. My dogs all did. My cats also, but not with the gusto as the dogs. Dogs are running and playing or even dreaming of being with us, but cats are most likely slinking around ready to bounce on their prey.

I'm sure they must go through different phases of sleep just like we do. My dog lies here under the desk while I'm working and takes little cat naps and I can feel him stirring under my foot; obviously he's in that R.E.M. stage of sleep and dreaming of running, chasing, whatever. It's one of the endearing things about dogs. Sometimes he'll awake with a little yelp and I wonder what happened. Did the vet just give him a shot? Did the cat just scratch out his eyeball? Was he looking for his favorite ball and couldn't find it? LOL

My dog jerks around in her sleep and makes grunting noises. We play with her with a towel and she pulls on it while she growls SO, we think she's dreaming of doing that because she growls in her sleep and has never seen a rabbit.

All dogs do that, and they do dream and bark or make little nippy sounds.

All the yeas I've had dogs they all do the same things, even Cats do it too.
