what is all this fear of fat? animal fat is good for us, helps lubricate our bodies, protect our nervous system, keeps our skin healthy.

everyone like beef strogannof because it's a high calorie, nutrient rich dish.

of course have veggies with it. and a beverage. i would have red wine.

    Healthy Beef Stroganoff

Beef stroganoff isn't the best thing to eat if you are trying to make healthy meals. Usually the meat is very lean, but the sauce that coats the beef and pasta is rich, fattening, and full of calories. You could try using low fat cheeses, milk, and sour cream to cut down on the fat and calories. Mixing in fresh vegetables is certainly a good idea as well. Our family favorite mix ins include broccoli, green beans, and sugar snap peas. Also consider making whole wheat pasta instead of egg noodles. You will save a lot of calories on the pasta by doing this.

beef stroganoff isn't bad for you if you use low fat ingredients and eat as part of a balanced meal with sweetcorn, a jacket potato and spinach for example. it's hardly the kind of dish you'd make on a daily basis and if you're in a restaurant i presume you'd choose something different each day.

The original recipe can be a little bit caloric, but it's good to have a little bit of a treat every now and then- both for the body and sanity. :)

If you want, you can make it healthier by using low fat sour cream, lean ground beef (which you also drain the fat from after you brown it in a pan), not cooking ingredients in butter or oil and using a nonstick pan instead, use low fat cream of mushroom soup, and serve on whole wheat noodles or spaghetti squash or veggies.

    Mmmmmm...... I love beef stroganoff.

I made some 2 weeks ago. I use low fat sour cream in mine. It's not super healthy but if you don't eat it every day it's fine.

I eat mine with vege pasta.

No it's not bad for you. It's not the healthiest dish but in moderation it's fine. There are some nutritional benefits and just make it as healthy as you can. Drain of the excess fat and grease etc. :) We're all human here and we should enjoy the good things as long as we consider that not all foods should be a dietary staple eaten daily.

I have ate stroganoff all my life and I am 98 Yrs old.

Made with lean meat with as much fat drained off as possible and low fat sour cream it's not terrible-even better if served with brown rice or whole wheat noodles.
