You can give your child your boyfriend's last name.

If he's the birth-father, then the child is his and should have his last name.

Plus, even though you two are not 'currently' married, you may end up getting married in the future. Who knows?

But when a girl/woman has a child outside of marriage, then she has the choice whether she wants to give the child the father's last name, or her own maiden name.

    It's your choice.

There are lots of unmarried couples where the baby has the father's last name. Ask your boyfriend if he has any objection, or if he really thinks it's the law. If it's just because he thinks it's the law, there is nothing to stop you from calling yourself Ms X, then it will make things easier as you dislike your last name.

No, you can give your child any last name you want. You can even make one up if you want.

What is "Caz"? Is that the last name?

Your baby can have any surname you want. When you go to register the birth, you pick the surname that will be on the baby's birth certificate. It doesn't even have to be the father's name if you don't want it to be - some people use their mother's maiden name or a combination of their surname and their partner's.

baby can have his last name if you both agree, doesnt matter if you are married my son has his fathers last name nnot actually married but common law and to the asshole who said a baby shouldnt grow up with unmarried parents needs a slap in the face, as long as the baby is loved and cared for it doesnt matter

If you and your boyfriend plan to get married then you could give the child his last name, or you could hyphenate the last names, in case you two don't get married.

your baby can have whatever last name you choose!

even if you and your boyfriend are not married you can still give your children his last name.

i know this for sure because my two siblings have different last names and my mother was not married to their father

How bout this, get married. Problem solved. How do you think your baby is going to grow up with 2 *parents* that aren't married! Bottom Line, get married BEFORE the baby is born. No one should EVER grow up like that.
