why is suggesting someone do a search on a search engine a breach of the answers guidelines.?

I use search engines all the time , I have searched through guidelines and terms and conditions and cannot see where this would breach the rules . I have 404 points and 14 % best answers if I am penalised for this I will not respond to any further questions so please can anyone point me to the bit that says what I have done wrong

Answering questions with 'Google it' means there is no point to Yahoo! Answers. Here's the link that clearly shows “Do a search” is considered cheating.

The rule is that you must answer the question or it's a violation. If you just said to goggle it, then that would be a violation. I didn't see the question so I can only guess. If you answered the question and added a link to further assist them then that isn't a violation. File an appeal if you feel it wasn't justified.

That's a violation for misuse of the question-and-answer format.

The rule is that when you post an answer, it must attempt to answer the question being asked. Telling somebody to go to Google or another search engine is not an answer to the question being asked, you are telling them where they might find their answer, which is not the same thing.
