Is it wrong not to feel emotionally connected to family?

When my dad was alive I felt a connection with him. I don't feel an emotional connection with my other relatives. I can't talk to them about everything. I feel like I would be more open to a lover.

Update:

Yes, I think it's my need for independence not an actual dislike. All of you gave me wonderful advice.

I think with some family members you bond more. Your other family members are still family. If you find someone new they won't fully replace that.

it's called grieving. after my parents died i had an awful time because i pulled away from everyone; it didn't feel any emotion to any of my close relatives. but the grieving gets less in time and you'll be whole again.

forget about a lover -- don't make excuses.
