Are atheists certain that there is nothing more than the five physical senses?

Scripture says God is Spirit. Are there measuring devices for spirit? What if you cannot measure spirit with a yardstick or weigh it on a scale? Under similar means, I would have no reason to believe your thoughts exist, because I can only see the effects of your thoughts. Jesus said that you can see the effects of the Spirit, in a similar way as you see the effects of the wind. You can see the tree branches moving and the leaves blowing in the wind, though you cannot see the wind itself.

If I were to describe music to a deaf person or colors to a blind person, would they be equally justified in saying that those things do not exist with certainty, simply because they cannot personally perceive them? Jesus said that the pure in heart would see God. He gives Christians the faculty of revelation to see God at work. Jesus equates faithlessness as blindness and deafness in the scripture. If you are perhaps spiritually blind or spiritually deaf, then can you say with certainty that you have all faculties to discern all things? Or are you just speculating?

In answer to your first question, there are actually something like 15 physical senses, including the sense of knowing in what position your limbs are, a sense of balance and gravity, and the sense of heat and cold. I will respond in kind to each of your points. "Under similar means, I would have no reason to believe your thoughts exist, because I can only see the effects of your thoughts." My response: yes however thoughts can be sensed through magnetic resonance imaging. "You can see the tree branches moving and the leaves blowing in the wind, though you cannot see the wind itself."

My response: However, you can feel the wind as a physical force.

In response to your second paragraph, I would say that to a person who is blind or deaf, does the existence of colour or of sound matter at all to them? Same to those who do not base their lives on religion, they don't care if spirit exists or not because it doesn't effect them.

I'm sure there's more than the five physical senses. However, that does not prove that a god exists.

So God restricts knowledge of him to certain individuals, then punishes the rest? What kind of jerk would do that?

I used to feel the presence of God and see Jesus in visions. Then I had a vision of Jesus leading me to the Mother Goddess and telling me I was ready to move on in my spiritual journey. Then my spirit animal came to me. Then I raised my Kundalini, which was by far the most powerful spiritual experience I've ever had. If you've only sensed the presence of one god you still think it's real. I know better.

"Are atheists certain that there is nothing more than the five physical senses?"

    I don't know.

Am *I* certain that there is no god?

    Absolutely - 100% ;)

Gods and magic are the most ludicrous things primitive man ever came up with to explain anything... he may as well have suggested that a one-eyed Turtle with the assistance of half a dozen near-naked Flamingos did it... ;)

“If energy can’t be destroyed or created, then god can't create it now can he?

If the universe requires a creator, then so too does god.

    Who created god?

If god could have always existed, then so too could the universe.

Just cos you can't grasp it doesn’t mean GODDIDIT, it just means you're stupid.”

Air would be examined in a lab - it incredibly is chemical composition is actual usual. The stress of gravity would be defined by way of physics. emotions, concepts etc. are a results of neurons firing on your concepts, which would be seen on a concepts test. we've this element talked approximately as "technology" which fits previous the 5 senses, and proves a number of those issues are real, yet can not seem to discover a god. Atheists do no longer say a god can not be chanced on "interior the direction of the senses," human senses are so limited whilst in comparison with the super medical expertise and attempting out it incredibly is attainable to us. God did no longer supply every person a feeling of right and incorrect. Morals are definitely area of organic determination, i will cite you an editorial approximately this in case you will like. in certainty, a learn of stepped forward international locations confirmed that international places with greater religious religious voters additionally had larger incidences of rape, teenage pregnancies, STDs, and greater. So, morals are definitely "greater useful" in atheists than theists. chuffed to quote you to that learn too.

We have more than 5 senses fyi. If there is no way to detect a 'spirit', what reason do you have to think it exists? There are ways the deaf can experience music and the blind can experience color. In any case, personal experience is not proof. If no one on the planet had ways to experience/detect music or color, then we would have no reason to believe in them. Evidence first, "belief" second.

So why do you ignore all the very real evidence of history that what you claim is entirely false?

Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.

The bible is what is called "Faction” A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?

Please realize that those claims for the Old historians are worthless since they were not even born until long after everyone in the stories would have been so long dead!

    Josephus AD 37 – AD 100

    Tacitus AD 56 – AD 120

    Suetonius - 69 – 130 AD

Pliny the Younger, 61 AD – 112 AD

Justin Martyr (Saint Justin) AD103–165 AD

Lucian - AD 120 -180 AD but he was hostile to Christianity and openly mocked it.

    Pamphilius AD 240-309 AD

    Eusebius AD 263 – 339 AD

    Photius AD 877 – 886 AD

Thallus - But there are no actual record of him except a fragment of writing which mentions the sack of Troy [109 BC] Showing that he was clearly not alive in biblical times.

Some even try to use Seneca. 4 BCE – 65 CE but as a Stoic Philosopher he opposed religion yet made not a single mention of a Jesus or Christianity!

Even funnier is trying to claim Celsus AD ? – 177 AD Who said that Jesus was a Jew who’se mother was a poor Jewish girl whose husband, who was a carpenter, drove her away because of her adultery with a Roman soldier named Panthera. She gave birth to an illegitimate child named Jesus. In Egypt, Jesus became learned in sorcery and upon his return presented himself as a god.

It does not matter what some religious leader said at any time, because all religion is an elaborate form of self deception. You have no evidence that spirit exists and you never have had.

what is reality? Reality I cant experience isn't reality. I don't care if we are in the matrix or not. if the pain I feel then i'm hit by a car is an 'illusion', that doesn't make it any less real...so I don't walk in the street. Its all very simple actually, you are trying to create unnecessary complications to reality that simply don't exist. transcendental 'truth' is the foolish illusion, not reality.

When you have a device or an experiment that can detect or measure "spirit" then come back to me.

Until you do I will place "spirit" in the same intellectual junkyard as phlogiston, ether and ectoplasm.
