Why is everyone so desperate to hijack Pope Francis?

(First off, sorry to my contacts, I know I asked the same question earlier, but people continue to say that the Pope jsut changed Catholicism and now teaches that Atheists are saved)

I'm tired of this. The man is a carbon copy of Pope Benedict XVI in every way that really matters, he just has different focuses due to different backgrounds (a South American Jesuit is bound to be slightly different than a German theologian)

At his election, the media was going wild, women priests are imminent because he cooked his own food in Argentina! Ermagerd, he didn't wear the red shoes, that must mean he will embrace gay Marriage!

And now the latest, the Pope says that Jesus died for everyone, and that Atheists are able to do good things. Completely ancient Catholic teaching, that anyone can be used by God for His glory, even those who don't follow Him. But just in my brief time on this board today, people claim that the Pope said Atheists go to Heaven, and that he now teaches universal salvation.

Why are people so desperate to paint everything the poor man does as radical, heretical, and modern?

The Pope is Catholic. Get over it.

Pope Francis will never allow female priests, surprising this one group of heretical nuns, he will never embrace gay marriage, as he referred to gay marriage as a “destructive attack on God’s plan” and “a move of the Father of Lies who seeks to deceive and confuse the children of God.” He didn't mean that faith is not necessary, but that some have been raised and 'indoctrinated', so to speak, that some just can't believe in God so by his mercy, God could save good people. There are atheists who left religion and attack religion, they might not be saved, but people read too much in what Pope Francis said about atheists.

Every pope gets trashed on by people who don't like Roman Catholicism.

I am for once in my 43 years on this earth proud of who was elected Pope. He is modern not living in the 15th century and believes that GOD know's your heart and will judge you when you pass. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school, had 2 Aunts as IHM nuns and did not believe in GOD until I was 23. Knowing what the Nuns have sacrificed and the living conditions that have had to endure vs the Priests cozy living conditions is ridiculous! The Nuns who do all the work get squat! $30 per month for toiletries and maybe once a month a decent meal? REALLY! Shame on you who don't know the facts and think you can judge...At least the Nuns weren't raping boys!!!!!

First of all society is ignorant of what Catholics actually teach and believe so they often miss understand. Second the United States which influences a lot of the worlds media has been know to have quite a bit of anti-Catholic attitudes throughout its history. So basically anti-Catholic bigotry and ignorance are way and you know evil attacks that which is most good and holy.

Obviously, it keeps them high to trash the Living Institution of Jesus for the last 2000 yrs. They' are cool to be aniticatholic and have a terrific faith based on accusations/lies on how bad is the catholic church.

I think it's because many people don't like change, even if it's for the better. It might mean those who are "against" Pope Francis will have to change their attitudes and prejudices..which they probably don't want to do. They might need to be accepting of those whose views are different than theirs. That's sometimes hard to "swallow."

    It matter not, to God,

    what we believe.

    It matters what we do.

That is what Pope Francis was saying. Just that simple.

God doesn't love us for what we call ourselves.

He loves us, for how we love others.

btw, you don't know that heaven doesn't have many Atheist. You can believe it doesn't, if you want.

But that would be a hateful belief.

I don't believe God would be smiling on that belief.

But, that's just my belief, you can believe whatever you want.
