Do think theist and atheist will ever be at peace with each other?

I'm not ignoring their beliefs contradict each others. Some clashing is more than expected but on both sides hatred and hypocrisy comes out. Theists and religion in general speak of how foolish atheists are but are we not also supposed to respect others and tolerate them? I've always been taught to love the person and respect the person in church, and not to bash them for there beliefs. Atheists too are guilty for professing how "were enlightened", but is it also enlightened to bash what others believe? Is respecting people's beliefs too much to ask for? For both sides? Do you think this gap between theists and atheists will ever close and respect for each other will happen? Bytheway the examples I used are extremes and do not represent either group as a whole, just the crazy extremists.

I am not an Atheist but I have no problems with atheist, there are many nice one's I've seen. As long as they respect anyone of any religion or race, I'm fine with them. And so does this apply to anyone really. As long as they will respect one another and not do any harm, then it will be fine. But I do think that there will be peace with each other depending on who they are. The nice people will and the bad people won't. I hope that this is what you was looking for :)

I get along with atheists all day and daily. It has been a while on the grounds that i've been on a university campus, nevertheless. I suppose it has to do more with the surplus power, pier-pressure, and the fact that you're all simply spending every day studying and considering. When time comes to pay the expenditures, just about everyone will make concessions. Ya heard?

As an atheist I can tell you that theist beliefs are of no interest to me at all, beyond bemusement that anyone *could* believe those things.

My problems with theists are entirely about them trying to force their beliefs into our laws, schools, hospitals and bedrooms.

As long as they continue to do that...my response will be to fight the cultural and social and legal effects of their delusions whenever and wherever I can. Since they attempt to hide behind their religion and use it as "justification" for their attempts to marginalize and oppress others, then they force us to attack the religion itself and show it to be delusional and not sufficient reason to harm others.

I live in perfect harmony with my Christian neighbours, I even drive some of them to church on a Sunday morning.

It is only in cyber space that I argue with theists

I don't know about the others, but it's hard to make peace with someone who acts like a little child.

It has NOTHING to do with what theists believe. They can believe in leprechauns for all we care, but the moment they start trying to legislate based on what they think leprechauns are telling them, the mockery and ridicule will be brought to bear on them.

Atheists want everybody to get along. We want everybody to have the option to live as they like so long as they don't harm anybody else, but there are many Christians who want to restrict how we live. That's not cool. That's not what America is about.

And to sit here and pin any blame on atheists when in the past people used to be killed for contradicting the church, is highly ridiculous. Please get your facts straight before trotting out this "middle of the road" bullshit a second time.

I am an atheist, and I have no problem with believers, among whom are almost all my friends and relatives.
