Digital Hardware: TTL and CMOS?

Please tell me about the different technologies that are used for the implementation (build up) of digital hardware such as TTL and CMOS

    Do you mean in the fabrication of the chips or how they are used?

    As well, in a piece of hardware the user cares not whether TTL or COMS is used. In designing gear I have mixed both technologies depending on what I wanted to do. I default to 4000 series CMOS if it is a tossup between the two technologies.
