Is my PSU good enough for my rig?
Hi guys. My rig is as follows:
Intel i3-2120 3.30Ghz
4GB Ram
2TB hdd
Nvidia geforce 9600gt 512mb
Nscom 500w atx psu
I have just bought an HD 7950 gpu for my rig (it will arrive tomorrow) . I know my cpu will need upgrading soon, however I'm not too worried about that. Upon ordering this gpu I did some more research on PSUs and I'm starting to be doubtful, however I REALLY do not want to buy another psu. Will it suffice? It only has 1 six pin connector (the card needs 2) so I will be using a molex to six pin connector to account for that. Will my system be fine on stock clock? Or is it risky putting this card in my system with this psu? Thanks.

Straight off there website
"500W (or greater) power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended"
Considering everything you have listed a 500w should be sufficient and I would not consider it risky.
If you'd like you can use this psu calculator to confirm.

I already calculated it once with the listed specs and it was only using around 250 watts, although probably slightly more as there might be some things you did not list.
Good Luck

Well with a 500 watt psu right on the border line But will work some cases there is a peak in power usage that can take it well over the est. wattage cal of the psu while gaming , could get a coolermaster psu 600 watt cheaper than the corsair and they do last a long time a good warranty with it with two pci-e 6 power pin connectors from tiger direct.com

ever heard of 4th of july thats what it will look like in your case if you use that power supply
500w is the maximum it will push out and im betting its probly got 12v rail is poor quality i would get at least a
750w power supply this will cover you to keep costs down you wont have to upgrade this again
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
the 7950 is very power greedy as it pulls 200w watts of power alone and thats normal loads gaming loads can be as high as 350w keep in mind thats just 1 component of your build the rest is like another 120w more making you at the maximum of the psu usage my bet is it wont even start it will just blow up since its a low quality psu
also if it has 1 power connector theres a reason for that its called common sense they knew the limit of that power supply if you add a splitter it will fry and possibly kill all your rig as cheap power supplys dont have alot of the safety features to prevent damage.
now also
recomended low powered processors cheap flash motherboard bios to get these or the will most likely wont work
