The Maori language spoken by the Maori people of New Zealand is culturely important.
They are the only speakers of this language in the world.
If they don't preserve it by teaching their young it will be lost to the world forever.

Use example of Jews. It is part of their culture and understanding to never assimilate themselves (although there were forced assimilated Jews), keep traditions and stay near their "roots". That's why they did not even recognize Jesus Christ and kept Judaism.
