Best thermal paste is Arctic Silver (after market). I recommend using that, and it's only $8.

Also, I strongly recommend buying a good after market CPU cooler, as the stock Intel cooler sucks and it's also noisy.

Get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or better.

The stock cooler and its pre-applied thermal paste are adequate if you are not doing any cpu overclocking. The observed 55-60 C temperature range is normal.

Upgrading the thermal paste won't actually improve your computer's performance and there are no significant benefits. The CPU operating temperature is an issue only if you are overclocking. However, you may consider upgrading the CPU cooler if you want a quieter cooling fan or more efficient cooling in a poorly ventilated small case.

You are able to do all that on a mac mini. Or just get a keyboard, mouse and show for your computing device. Not one of the matters you might be speakme about require the pc vigour of a Mac pro.
