17 yr old son dating 30 yr old woman?
My 17 yr old has been dating a 30 yr old woman. He's been lying about it to us, but we heard from a friend and confronted him with it and he admitted it was true. We made it clear that this was not an appropriate relationship and it would stop. He'll be 18 later this year and has asked us to give him permission to marry her, which we've denied. Once he is 18 of course, he can do what he wants. We've made it clear we will not pay for college if he is to get married as well.
We are at a loss as to what to do. He isn't supposed to be seeing her anymore. We've also not grounded him as I don't want to push him any closer to her.
The relationship was sexual and it's a statutory offense, but I'd rather not get the police involved.
Any real advice anyone can offer? He's a straight A student and has been accepted into a top university already. But I am afraid this could really hurt his life.

You were both very young whilst you were first married. I don't know how lengthy you dated earlier than you were actually married, however this may occasionally have something to do together with his wandering eyes. This is only a temporary thing, he'll be again. The question is, will you need him back? I think so when you consider that your coronary heart and soul are concerned. Be patient and stay busy! I think it's only appropriate to meet the woman if you guys haven't already. I'm curious to know if he only did this to teach you guys a lesson. I mean, your son isn't stupid after all and there's probably a really good reason behind it all. Maybe he doesn't receive enough attention from you or he feels as if he doesn't matter? You, as his mother, you're doing the best as you can and that's all you can really do at this point, so don't stress! Just know that, things happen! Some good, some bad and in order for things to get better, you must be strong. I really do wish all the best for you and him!
P.S. Forgive yourself. This isn't your fault.
(I'm so sorry if it sounds like I'm bashing you and your son! Lol.)
