Can Kyle Busch win the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

I mean all by himself, no co-drivers. After all, he is the greatest wheelman of all time. It should be a piece of cake. Before you get your panties in a wad, I understand that the 24 Hours of LeMans has nothing to do with Nascar.

Update:

Surely, if any race car driver on the planet could go 24 hours straight, it must be the legendary Kyle Busch.

Update 2:

And yes, to those that haven't figured it out, this is a joke.

Leaving aside the many absurdities of the question itself, and the fact that any such campaign would have as much to do with the team, car, and the competition faced (both in class and overall).... just leaving that all aside:

Of course not. Since an entry at Le Mans requries more than one driver, he would not be able to compete. Not being able to even start would have a major impact on his chances of winning.

The answer to this question is an absolute no.

First off, the series would never allow it in this day and age. To quote from Wikipedia concerning drivers:

"Originally, there were no rules on the number of drivers of a car, or how long they could drive.

Although almost all teams used two drivers in the early decades, some Le Mans drivers such as Pierre Levegh and Eddie Hall attempted to run the race solo, hoping to save time by not having to change drivers. This practice was later banned. Until the 1980s, there were teams in which only two drivers competed, but by the end of the decade, the rules were changed to stipulate that at least three drivers must drive each car.

By the 1990s, due to the speeds of the cars and the strain it put on drivers, further rules were added to improve driver safety. Drivers could not drive more than four hours consecutively, and no one driver could run for more than fourteen hours in total. This reduced driver fatigue during the races."

Even if Kyle Busch had the body of the finest Olympic athlete (which by the way, he doesn't), it still would be impossible. The problem is the driver would wear out physically and mentally from the strain of controlling such a powerful machine.

Also, would Joe Gibbs even allow this if this practice was legal? Even in today's world, there are certain contracts that are set up between drivers and their owners that they can't go and risk injuring themselves by running a rather risky race; hence why Gibbs essentially forbid Tony Stewart from racing in the USAC and Silver Crown series because he was under contract with JGR and Home Depot.

With the substantial evidence and rules concerning sports car racing nowadays, the feat and possibility that Kyle Busch could win the 24 Hours of Le Mans singlehandedly is zero to none.

Now that is not to say that he could team up with a team and be one of their four drivers, then he could win. What you have to realize about sports car racing as well, is that the fields are rather massive where you have three different classes running at the same time, usually consisting of 18 or so cars in each class.

If he drove carefully, ran with a good team, was allowed to run it without contractual priorities stopping him, and had strong co-drivers behind him; then sure, he could win it.

Alone however; it cannot, will not, and never occur.

No it would not be a piece of cake for anybody. The governing body for the Le Mans 24 Hours, the ACO, requires three drivers per car. They would not make any exception for the 'Legendary' Kyle Busch. There are many drivers around the world far fitter than Kyle, and I doubt they could manage 24 hours.

I have nothing against Kyle, it's just impossible, and that's a fact.

ok, to you he's the best, i'm fine with that. but lemans rules state you need 3 drivers. but even if this wasn't, no-one can concentrate for 24 h straight. the last one who tried was pierre levegh, who crashed after 23 h and 20 m, while leading le mans!!!! from the morning onwards he was a sort of zombie on the track, couldn't react to anything anymore.

  • Actually, I think the rules require at least three drivers, so they wouldn't let him.

It didn't used to be that way, though. Up until about the late 1950's, there were solo drivers in the race.

This has to be a Joke... right!? Or at least I hope it is.

There is NO way that jackass qualifies to drive a ALMS car period, much less for that long.

It's either gotta be a joke, or one of the dumbest questions I've seen in a long time.
