How much should a 1985 Honda Prelude with 166,000 be worth ?

The guy selling claims claims he was a mechanic in the army for 12 years and has invested all this time and money into the car but hes moving to the west coast with his wife and needs to sell if fast. The car looks brand new (interior as well) but I wonder if I'll regret it if I get it. He said it gets 30 mpg but the internet says it gets closer 25. Does it have another 100,000 to go ? What should I look for when I go test drive it Saturday.

well the price u could pay is no more then $1000 if u are willing to put new after market parts in it (close $5,000 and above) you could have a nice car and on the test drive check if the steering wheel is shaking (vibrating) or the sound of the car, look if it starts the first time, when driving also look if all every thing works in side and be sure that the car has not a lot to do, and it can maybe last another 200,000 miles but its about how you maintain your car i owned a Honda minivan ran it 340,000 and when i sold it it was like it could run another 100,000 but the inside went through hell and back so ya i mean its up to you, do you want to take care of a car or just run it till it dies

I don't care how well he's maintained it....it's a 28 year old car. It will break down sometime soon, and parts are going to be VERY hard to get. Don't pay more than $500, if that.
