A/C is leaking! need help?

The air handler is in the attic and water is leaking where the duct-work meets the air box, or what ever you call it. What would cause this leak? my suspicion is a hole in the duct work that is causing condensation when the warm air meets the cool air. If it is the duct-work, how should I fix it because metal tape doesn't seem to be the effective. Also, the drain pipe outside doesn't appear to be clogged because it is dripping like normal.

If its very little water it could be condendation. If the hole is not real big and its alot of water its may be something else.

If water is comin out outside that should be your auxiliary drain. You primary pan should be tied into your home plumbing. This would mean your primary drain is clogged if it was installed correctly.

It could also be your unit freezing up and u bein unaware. The ice would melt and be too much for the primary or only pan. It could have dirty coil, filter, or low of freon.

Finally air handlers have to have a p-trap installed. If they don't or have one and there is opening in the PVC line between the air handler and the trap then the unit can form a vacuum in the drain and cause water to splash out of the pan.

Airhandlers are known to condensate heavily.

You will probably get better answers than mine, but that happened to my A/C once. The repairman came and it seems there's some sort of pan in the closet with the unit and it was tilted (probably from when I changed the filter) and it was causing that pan to not hold the water like it should.

could be not pitched right, cracked pan, stopped up condensate, freezing up. or something else.
